Dec. 7

Well another round and another win. Tonight I split the round with Trevor Brazile with a time of 7.1 seconds. In addition I also moved to the top of the average race with a five head total of 43.10 seconds.

Tonight marked the halfway mark and I have moved from 9th to 3rd and hope over the course of the next five rounds I will move from 3rd to 1st.

The calf I had tonight, I didn't know a whole lot about. I just knew he ran a good pattern and didn't kick and that's all I ask for. If the calf doesn't kick, he can run as fast as he wants to or as slow as he wants to, as long as he gives me a chance to step my game up and win something.

Pearl (my horse owned by Sid Miller) is working great and I am feeling great. The next five rounds should be good.

Dec. 6

What a relief to finally get a check and what a way to do it. I was the first one out tonight and it all worked out great. I messed up my first one to finish with a 9.6, so it felt good to do so well tonight and finish within a tenth of a second of my arena record of 6.5 seconds set in 2003.

I've had great luck going first. I really don't like to go first because sometimes I feel like I'm rushing into it. The first guy usually goes, and then you get a chance to get into a rhythm. Tonight, everything just felt great riding in the box. Shoot, I don't know, every time I've been first out I've probably won that round six or eight times. So even though I don't really like to go first, I am pretty comfortable going first.

Hunter Herrin had him the first round. He roped him and figure-eighted the back leg. He he had a little heck with him, but he tied him in 9.7 seconds, so I knew I had a good calf. I knew he started sharp, so I knew I could take the bare minimum start, and it was just flawless tonight.

Hopefully, I can have a repeat performance tomorrow.
